The sun is shining, the flags are waving for Memorial Day Weekend (Arlington National Cemetery photo, but our Jamestown VFW Post 5424 will be hosting its Memorial Day parade to the cemetery at 10:30 am on Memorial Day), all our plants and shrubs are blooming and our gingko trees are in full bloom. It is the start of summer in the region…my absolutely favorite season…sailboats at Pymatuning Lake, docks in the water, pontoons and fishing boats trolling, Conneaut Lake jumping with activity, ice cream cones every chance we can get, campgrounds full, a A sailboat with a sail

steady stream of cars, trucks and trailers through Jamestown, Andover, Kinsman, Espyville, Linesville, Greenville and Conneaut Lake….fresh produce every day…sunset late and sunrise early…..coffee outside on the deck…lunch and dinner too…rain that is a little gentler and easier to deal with in warm weather….outdoor concerts…the wineries and breweries serving outside…shorts and flip flops and summer tans…summer gardens to tend…and we are still amazed at all the follow up letters and thank you’s we received from the many events we have hosted since last January (2023) when we formed the Friends of the Manor Charitable Trust and took over operation of the Gibson House Manor as a historic education visitors and event center. We were open for 56 events in 2023 and plan to open for at least 130+ events in 2024 and our 2025 calendar is expending even more. We will also be open for community events, public seasonal events, fundraisers and private events. We also open on Thursdays and Fridays for school tours (registration and advance ticket purchase needed). Finally, we are also open by advance registration for private tours.
